I am a sports guy who also loves art.
I wonder if anyone is ever going to cure cancer.
I hear the sound of cheering after I make a half court shot.
I see people hoasting me up after my shot.
I want to make a lot of money.
I am a sports guy who also loves art.
I pretend sometimes that I'm some other pro athlete.
I feel getting a broken bone.
I touch basketballs all day long.
I worry that I won't always get an A.
I cry when someone say something offensive.
I am a sports guy who loves sports.
I understand that everyone should get along.
I say that everyone should always be kind to each other.
I dream that one day I'll be a pro athlete.
I try to always get strait A's.
I hope that I can have a family when I'm older.
I am a sports guy who also loves art.

Jazz Game
Over the Christmas Break one thing I did was go to a Jazz basketball game. The Jazz were playing the Portland Trailblazers. This was not supposed to be the best game there could be, but it was an okay game. The Trailblazers were 15-15 and the Jazz were 21-9, so they were the ones who the experts chose to win the game. But before I tell you what happened at the Jazz game, first I will tell you what happened before we actually got there. It was Dec. 27, two days after Christmas my brother and I were going to a Jazz game. It started out smoothly. We got to the freeway and were on our way to the game happy as could be. We were about half a mile from the downtown Salt Lake City exit when the whole freeway literally came to a complete stop. The guy in front of us slammed on his brakes and stopped instantly. My older brother looked in his rear view mirror and saw the guy behind us going like 45 miles per hour and all he could think about was hopefully this guy wasn’t going to hit us in the rear and crush the back end of my dads car. So to prevent this he didn’t totally slam on his brakes instantly he kind of went slowly and then everything went in slow motion and then smack! I looked up and we had just barely nicked the guy in front of us hitting his new U of U symbol in the back of his hitch and then I looked out the window and saw the guy behind us cruise past. Luckily he had swirved to the side of us and missed our car by an inch. We got out of the car and all there was, was a little nick on the front of our car and then his U of U sign was bent. Luckily we didn’t have to call the police so we were fortunate enough to go to the Jazz game. When we got in Energy Solutions Arena we sat down and watched the game. It was a good game pretty much the whole way. Then in the middle of the third quarter a guy was walking up the isle with two beers in hand. He sat the row above us and the next thing I know my brother is feeling his shirt and the guy had spilt beer all down his back side. It was terrible after that, the Jazz were then just sucking and they lost the game by like 6 points. That was a bummer. After wards we got home without getting in a wreck and it was all good after that.
Empathy
In this book The Giver, I believe that they lack empathy for one another because they don't know how anything actually feels. They think they do but only The Giver and the Receiver actually know how it really feels. They have never known pain or anything like that, because they just take a pill and it all goes away. They have never known what it feels like to have sunshine or rain so then how could they know what someone else is feeling. In this community everything is like perfect so they don't really ever feel like sad or anything. They don't know that people actually die because they have just been told that they are released, so they don't know what anything feels like so they can't feel anything toward someone else.
I think that Jonas starts to feel empathy for other people because he knows what pain is like and he knows what it is like to feel things. He knows because The Giver has given him memories of pain and nobody else knows what pain feels like so if he sees say somebody who has had there fingers caught in a door, he has a memory of that pain so if he sees somebody go through that he knows what it feels like. Another example could be when Jonas goes into The Givers office and The Giver is feeling awful. Jonas now knows what it is like because he had that memory of pain and he can understand in this instance what The Giver was going through.
This is why I think that the community in the book The Giver lacks empathy for one another and how Jonas starts to feel empathy for the others in the community.
